Those sugar free chewing gums, sweets and soft drinks stacked on the supermarket shelves and promoted as healthy alternatives can damage your teeth and also cause gastric problems, says a study by the British Dental Journal.
The acidic nature of sugar free foods and drinks may cause dental problems. These contain the commonly used group of substitutes called sugar alcohols, which can cause acidity in the mouth leading to erosion of the teeth enamel. In fact, excevvive use of these sugar free products not just rots your teeth but can ultimately dissolve them completely.
Sugar free products which are a rage among diabetics contain many hidden risks which many people are hardly aware of. Apart from tooth enamel erosion, they can also cause osmotic diarrhoea.
They are also known to increase the blood sugar levels.
